Lori - mine is in a north facing border, but gets some afternoon sun as you can see in the photo. The common name for it in the UK is turtlehead.

mine is in a very shaded spot with afternoon sun and lots of competition (hosta, sensitive fern and geranium) and it hasn't quite started yet. same colour blooms, lovely native NA plant. get this for a common name: Bear's Britches!
