Rhizomatous orchid, growing to a foot or so, in fertile, humus-rich soil in part or full shade. Can form colonies a few feet across in ideal growing conditions

Orchids are a huge and amazingly varied family aren't they? I've been thinking about trying to find the Lady's Slipper. It's the provincial floral emblem for Prince Edward Island.
