Hesperaloe is very hardy,but to flower needs warm and full sun. It might doable in the UK.

You know Penny how Bird people look for the rare yellow bellied sapsucker and all manner of birds to take photos of?
I do with that mostly exotic plants here in the San Francisco bay area. With digital cameras..a very inexpensive hobby-lol.
