2nd Year Lysimachia atropurpurea (Lysimachia atropurpurea)

I bought one of these plants in 2007, it flowered in 2008 ... I kept some seed which I sowed in March 2009. These are the result - in their second year and going in to flower

I really like that plant - but I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more this year. I might wind up breaking that promise.

Far be it for me to say, Laura ... but ... give in, give in to temptation!! :) Of course, a cheaper alternative would be to grow them from seed for next year.

I know you're in the US, but you can sow these right the way through to the end of July here (after doing a bit of research) ... I'm going to do that myself today just in case these don't make it through the winter (again). I still have some more seed after sowing these last year.

What I did find interesting is that whilst doing some research yesterday I noted that the flowering height of these is about 36 inches - the parent plants we're possitive where almost double that ... I shall have a better look through some old photos.
