This is an oddity - a mahonia that flowers in the autumn. OK, the flowers aren't spectacular, but to a plantsman this is fascinating. For sun or part shade, eventually reaching five feet but slow growing.

I have planted Mahonia aquiflorium in an area that is shaded and a bit dry. It was the only suitable shrub I could decide on. I am sure they are both slow growing.
