paulownia tomentosa (paulownia tomentosa)

called the foxglove tree, it flowers before it gets leaves. This specimen was grown from seed, set about 6 years ago, and has flowered 2008 for the first time.

I visited Osterley House in England today and came across this tree and was fascinated by it's nutty buds and the purple flowers...it did remind me of a flower but couldn't put my mind to it...asked the head gardener who told me the name and this lead me to your picture...
how tall is your plant? the one in Osterley is a fully grown tree..great!
You really ought to go to to Osterley, it is a fantastic House set in beautiful grounds, with a real old meadow that is totally natural and the gardens are superb...well done on your tree, more pictures please, are you in england?
