Newly planted. Its canes have only just started to turn black - it will eventually contrast well with my P.aurea.

Hi there...
Be Warned ; I'm led to believe, that a good 80% of Black Bamboos (Phyllostachys nigra) die after it has flowered...
I have one in my back garden, which has already flowered twice within 12 months and fortunately, has survived !
Good luck with Your Black Bamboo Spritzhenry & Maple.

I think bamboo is a great plant. I have plans to add this one to my Japanese bit of the garden but the contrast with aurea might tempt me to get two ;o )
