The lighter foliage is 'Garnettii' which grows up to 5 metres
The darker foliage is 'Tom Thumb' which gets no taller than 1 metre

I've got what I call 'Chocolate Pittosporum' - I guess it's 'Tom Thumb' - and a large all-green one, but not the variegated version, which is very attractive.

this is lovely Andrew, looks just like it, i take it there are two different varieties together here, as the new growth on the one i have ordered is just plain green, although variegated new growth, - would'nt that be something! has yours ever flowered? apprently it is suposed to flower from May time and the flowers are red or black and very small, maybe this is why i have never noticed them before.

I haven't ever noticed flowers on mine, Angie. I have three - two largish green 'shrubs-almost-trees' and a chocolate one which can't be Tom Thumb as it's too tall. I'll have to look in May, now you've mentioned it!

Yes majeek, two varieties. The variegated one is 'Garnettii' which gets to 5 metres so not the faint-hearted. I've never noticed any flowers but I must admit I haven't looked very closely for them.
Sprtiz - your dark one could be either 'Nigricans' or 'Purpureum'

I have it 'catalogued' as 'Purpureum' I didn't know there was another one. Now I shall have to check it out! What's the difference, do you know, please?

According to the RHS Encyclopaedia, 'Purpureum' is more open in habit than 'Nigricans' but I guess you'd need to see the two side by side to tell the difference.
Referring to Plant Finder, 'Nigricans' has not been available since 2001 so you've probably got the other one!
