Medicinal Uses
Astringent; Depurative; Pectoral; Poultice; Skin.
The whole plant, especially the root, is both an astringent and a depurative.
An infusion of the leaves and stems have been used to treat stomach pains and children with diarrhoea.
An infusion of the dried and pounded roots can be used in the treatment of chest colds. A poultice of freshly mulched root can be applied directly to the mouth to treat blisters.
