Not sure if it would have beaten that Shortia.Pictures on google images look very impressive.More flower stems would have been nice.

It's still nice though. I saw it on t'other forum and was going to ask about it (snooker got in the way though). Is it a winter grower?

Hi Meanie, sorry for the late reply.
Do you mean is it evergreen. If so,it is here, although in cold climates it may not be.Obviously being silver/grey as much sun as possible and is drought tolerant.Apparently it can get quite big if grown in the ground,24-30 inches.Hopefully seed will set and any resulting offspring can be passed on.

Now I'm the one late replying..............

What I meant was is it a winter bloomer (like S.elegans and a few other American species are).
I stopped being so lazy and looked it up! Apparently it's a summer bloomer, so to me that makes your growing even better!

Cracking wee plant!

According to one of the searches I made it may flower all summer.I noticed another Salvia on the SRGC site, possibly the alpine house thread, that looks worth investigating.

There is a photo of Salvia cyanescens on the AGS website. Discussion thread,Malvern show pictures page 6.Also an unfortunate story goes with it.
Something to aim my plant at,though.

I posted a couple on the SRGC site in the May thread. If they're the ones, I can take a cutting of S.microphylla (white or red form) now, S.buchanii in a few weeks time when it bulks up. Couldn't find anything in the Alpine House thread.

That was unfortunate. Even if the steward was not physically hurt, imagine how bad he/she must have felt.

the one I was thinking of was S. caespitosa.
