Looks like a fancy stained glass vase instead of a flower...beautiful

They are my total favourites (or in U.S. speak, favorites) Skippy. I didn't know whether to use the nick Sarraceniac or Cycadpath originally but, although I love cycads as well these are just WOW. And you don't have to wait so long.

Another fantastic shot! This would happen to be that fancy lighting again...would it? I need to get some professional lighting, what a difference it makes. This one is going to my favs along w Sarracenia rubra :)

This is like the seeds I've just bought, except they called it S. purperea...

Sid. The S. purpurea is a different type of Sarra from the north of N. America right up to the Arctic, this one is a flava from the southern States area. I will post a picture of a S. purpurea as soon as the weather permits (maybe today if I can get one through the snow although it will look a bit haggard) and answer your PM on growing from seed. Actually the S. purpurea is one of the easiest from seed so you have bought the right one for a beginner for seed propagating.

Is S. flava the same as S. leucophylla, John?

6 Feb, 2009

Yes Sid. Technically it is S. flava leucophylla and S. flava rubra etc. There are so many hybrids of S. flava that even semi-experts lose track. It boils down sometimes to which field they came out of. Thus you will find when buying them 'named location' is a selling point. You even get some named after gas stations. Lol.

John.
