Little tip I picked up
If you have got some of the plastic guttering laying around and thinking of dumping it don’t If possible cut into 3 or 4 foot lengths drill evanly spaced holes along the bottom block both ends with the gutter clips/stops fill with peat/compost sow your veg seeds in as you want them to come up and when big enough to plant out remove a end stop and gently slid out to growing position.

I have an entirely other use for plastic waste pipes - I saw them into 18 inch lengths and then insert them at an angle, pointing towards the rootball of any new shrubs or trees I plant, specially in the spring or summer. It sticks up above the soil about 6 inches and then you pour the water into that, thus ensuring the water goes to the roots.
