The Sky's the Limit!

As readers of my blog will know, I’m very fond of bamboo, and there are three in the garden: two yellow and one black stemmed. Of the two yellow stemmed, the one on the south side is very vigorous, and this season has sent up three new stems (or culms I think they’re called in bamboo speak) which are probably about 15 feet tall (see pic). In fact, actually seeing them involves craning through the roses on the arch at the end of the garden. Here the two roses we planted some time ago are performing well this year, too, and Treasure Trove (a relative of the neighbouring Kiftsgate, now coming into bloom) is flowering in some abundance (well, for us it is), as seen in the second pic. Meanwhile, the other yellow stemmed bamboo on the other side of the garden is quietly doing nothing.

On the longest day of the year, it’s encouraging that at least one bamboo is reaching for the sky!

I like bamboos but never been able to grow them for some reason they always die on me. Yours look nice with the roses.
