Hello and welcome to GOY. Good luck this sounds lovely. Dont forget to slow the sap on your climbing roses by bending them as they grow, this gives you roses all the way up not just at the top.
How about sowing directly 'Love-in a mist' for a lovely show of early summer colour. Some of the Phlox and Penstemons are perennials worth considering for colour.

Welcome to GoY. I hope you learn a lot. Schoolgirl is a lovely rose. I used to have it in my previous garden.
