New build - starting from scratch

Two years after moving into our new build and having only dealt with the fencing and the drainage we are finally in position to make a start on the garden! Very exciting however also very daunting as so much to do. I know nothing about gardening so hoping you will all help me along the way. First job this week is building wooden planters to go around the edges of the garden. We then need to start the prep for the grass seed going down. Ill get some photos taken to let you all see where its all starting :-)

wow a new garden from scratch. don't rush to plant up. a friend of mine started a new garden and in the first couple of years she only planted annuals until she got the facets of wind/sun etc sorted. she then went for a few shrubs/trees and in the 4th year started with perennials. she grew lots of bulbs in pots too and now they are in the ground.
