25th May. Clematis 'Bijou'

The day started disappointingly as the friend i was going to the garden centre and nursery with cancelled.
Around lunchtime i decided i’d go anyway, i’d spent some time in the morning removing 3 shrubs from the front and back and was all fired up and raring to go !

The garden centre was packed with people but i had just 1 plant on my shopping list, another prostrate Rosemary to hide the left hand side of the sleeper, the other items were twine and vine eyes and to price up an Obelisk!

As i wandered into the outdoor plant section the new Clematis jumped into my trolley, Clematis ‘Bijou’.
I’ve been reading about this plant for several months now and have been coveting this thing from afar! Even walking past it the very first time i saw it a few months ago.
Something’s puzzling me now though, having just looked at Thorncrofts website they state its height as being between 1 and 3 feet.
This is very different to what is stated on the label.
The label quite clearly says 12" high (the same wide).
This isn’t too much of a problem but it’s still a bit irritating nonethless, it does make you wonder just who and what is correct.

All that said, i’m thrilled to bits with this new baby and i’ll be gazing at it as much as i do my climbing Clematis and Irises !!!

The true colour of the flower is a lovely lilac but is overexposed here and looks paler.

I brought quite a few with me from the old garden when I moved here and I've bought more since. They're one of my favourite plants.
