Brazilian Jasmine (Mandevilla)

I got this plant two years ago at the Malvern Spring Garden Show. It can be grown outdoors in the summer, but must be brought inside in winter. Ours has always been in the conservatory, where it seems to thrive (its a tropical woodland plant). This plant has now reached the roof of the conservatory despite being pruned to 18 inches in early spring – its a fast grower! Flowers start in May and will go through to past Christmas. The flowers are on new growth so it won’t mind being chopped back during the non-flowering season. It likes a lot of water, so we have a big pot base underneath. I like the long flowering season and the pink flowers with a yellow centre have a scent just like vanilla. Super plant!
