Clueless

Hi
I have just moved from a flat to a house and now have the delights of gardening to look forward to again for the first time in a few years.

Have just pulled up an enormous ugly yucca tree (thought the roots went to Australia) and planted a Prunus Avium in its place – I know its called that because the label said so. Also a Prunus Persica Nucipersica – I chose these two because I hope to have blossom to enjoy as well as fruit and not knowing anything about how to look after either I logged on to find this site.

Hope to be showing pictures of them next year – fingers crossed.

Why not put photos of the trees now aswell as next year -like 'before' and 'after'

Ahh, isn't it great when you've moved to somewhere with a garden again ? :-))

You can start to plan all the things you'd like to do, get and plant :-))))))
Lots of fun ahead, NewT (abbreviated it as feeling lazy!)

welcome to GoY newtothisgame.

you will get lots of advice on this site. dont be afraid to ask and then you can 'please your self'. photos of before and after and any plants you buy are a good idea as you will have a very good record of what they are. I wish i had done that :o)

Welcome from me too. You'll find plenty of ideas and advice on here while you're planning your garden. Be sure to let us see some Before pics too even though it's too late for that Yucca!

Thank you all so much for a great welcome.

Good idea to take the before and after photos, I will remedy that asap. (As long as no-one tells me I have planted them too close together - I'm sure I have and will have to keep them 'smaller' as my wonderful new garden is not very big (though I am going to dig up some of the lawn next spring to give me more scope). Will no doubt be looking for pruning tips next year).
Will also be looking for tips on what to grow 'under' a tree - planting bulbs at the moment but would like some summer colour if at all possible. That part of the garden gets the morning sun and the late afternoon sun, any suggestions please ?

Thanks again.
