I’m not quite sure how to spell the sound of a fanfare but here goes… Toot Tee Toot Toot Toooot!!!! We are really pleased to announce the addition of a “”http://www.growsonyou.com/visit">Garden Visits" section to Grows on You which you can use to find gardens to visit, add gardens to visit, and share your visit experiences!

Garden visits has been a popular feature request so we’re happy to be adding it now and would like to say again how much we really appreciate all your great feedback!

The new section has a map that you can move around (and zoom in and out of) to find the area you’re interested in. If you haven’t already discovered it here’s a little more information, but first I’d better explain that at the time this blog is being posted there is only one garden to visit! It’s not a mistake and there may be more by the time you read this but if there aren’t don’t worry, read on and all will become clear…

Finding a garden to visit
To find a garden near you just move and zoom the map on the visits tab. Each garden has a little red marker on the map and clicking on the markers displays a summary; clicking on the name of the garden will take you to its profile page which shows the photos, comments, and details from other members. In case moving maps sounds a bit tricky there is also a list of gardens to visit.

Adding a garden you have visited
If you know of or have visited a garden which is not on the map you can add it! It’s similar to finding a garden to visit; move the map around until you are zoomed in to the right location and just click where the garden is. We will ask you for a few details about the garden like the name and address and you’re done!

Sharing your visits
Once a garden is on the map you can add comments and photos for others to see on the garden’s profile page. If you already have photos on Grows on You it’s easy to link them to a garden on the map – when you’re viewing a photograph click on “Edit photo details” under the picture, the form now has an option to link the photo to a place you can visit.

We hope you like the new feaure and in case you haven’t already guessed, the garden we added is the Chelsea Flower Show :). Perfectly timed and I’m sure you have some stunning photos. If you managed to get tickets we hope you enjoyed it, if you didn’t make it this year let’s hope the new section gives you a feel for the show.

I think this is a very good idea, I visit lots of gardens over the year both public and private and get so much inspiration from them. I will be posting some of my photos of garden visits over the coming months.
