Garden Neglect

Since I last wrote, the consistent mix of bright sunshine and heavy showers has meant I’ve done almost nothing to the garden, I water it occasionally but even that has been taken care of by the rain. Whenever I’m in the garden, it looks fine, the vegetables and shrubs are growing fine and the tomatoes have almost reached the top of the fence.
Combined with busy summer weekends, my garden’s good health has meant I’ve neglected it somewhat; it was only today that I took a good look around and found that the soil around my plants is now teeming with weeds! Nothing too big but plenty of them, and all over. I was expecting some grass to come back after removing the lawn but I’m surprised at the variety of unwanted plants and will have to get out there very soon.
It’s not all bad though, my neglect meant today was full of surprises in the garden. Everything is doing so well!! Less than 2 months ago my onions were like 2 inch pieces of string, and thin string at that, now they are two feet tall and standing up to the battering from the weather (for those that read my last blog, one has also survived the battering I gave it with a log). There are courgettes, peppers and tiny little French beans too. The herb garden is doing well, and I’ve already used some of the chives and coriander.
Right, time for me to get weeding. I’d just like to say that if any of you are going to gardening shows, or attending gardening club meetings, please do pass on the word about Grows on You and invite your friends to join.

Mine is suffering the same, veg healthy, but weeds too. It has been raining for days.and heavily, lucky we are near the top of a hill and the beds are raised.
Think of the poor folk who are suffering from flooded homes...makes our troubles look minor.
