On my way back home through a housing estate in South Glos with Phoebe this morning, I was surprised to see how many daffodils are in bud and also find a clump of blue irises in full bloom. Is this normal? I thought the first irises didn’t appear until about April!

I think it's lovely to see them so soon. I wish every winter was as mild as this.

They are probably iris unguicularis which flowers in mild spells in the winter

Oh, I'm jealous! Nothing above 3" above the ground here in front or back garden. Have been housebound for nearly 4 weeks (chest infection) so I can't see very many of neighbours' gardens. The few I can see are no further advanced than mine. I didn't think it was much colder here but it must be - Portskewett in Monmouthshire. Enjoy your early Spring!

It is the unseasonably warm weather we have been having. The plants think it is Spring rather than Winter.
