lol..first time I've tried this. I got this planter at a dollar store for $8...yeah, I know, why is it called a dollar store if it's actually $8. I guess everything is $10 or less. Saves room in my garden for flowers :)

Hi Shaylaina, I'm fascinated, How does it work? why doesn't the soil fall out etc?

Hi Bornagain
The top lifts up and the plant goes down in, leaves first through the hole in the bottom. It comes with a round circle with a + split in it. I don't know what the circle piece is made out of, but something that will let the water drain through and it's about a 1/2 inch thick. You work this round circle with the x split around the stem of the plant. The plant is now held in place, up side down through that hole in the bottom. Then you put dirt in from the top and fill it up. There is a hole in the top too to pour water through or for rain.
So the plant and the circle piece that comes with it holds the soil in.
The little circle piece has a slit going out to one side, if I remember correctly so you can work it around the plant. It's stiff so it holds in place around the stem inside the container.
We've been getting a lot of tomatoes off it.
If you have any questions and I didn't explain well enough, ask away :)

Thanks, think I've got it. Is it as good a yeild as a conventional pot?

This is my first year with one but we've had a lot of tomatoes from it. I bought the smaller Roma tomato, also called Tom Thumb I believe. I wasn't sure about the weight of a large tomato like the Beef Steak tomato which is a very large tomato. I took some more pictures of it today and will post them. It doesn't look so great now as our nights have been really chilly here, making the tree leaves turn colour...way too early...so some of the leaves on the plant are a bit brownish.
:)
