Humming bird hawkmoth on geranium flowers

I just love these little insects and the way they fly from flower to flower. They are beautiful insects and so active. I also saw a bird hovering over some plants the other evening, just like a humming bird. It might have been a redstart, but I don't know how many European birds can do this.

What a stunning photo....you sure get some fantastic "beasties" - as we would call them in Scotland - in your neck of the woods. Nothing so dramatic happens up here!

I love these but struggle to get near them to take a photo they flit about so much and rarely land on the plant. Great photo!

Humming bird Hawk Moth, summer visitors from over the channel. Try as I might I cannot get a decent photograph with my point n shoot camera, that's an excellent capture.
