Smartie09 - if an aloe receives enough light it will produce tall stalks with green, white, yellow or orange flowers - it is a member of the lily family (Lilliaceae). Welcome to GOY.

what is the stalk growing out of the plant as this is the first time this has happened in all the years we have been growing them.
