So pleased you look after the birds too. I spend lots of time at the moment running up and down my garden tending the feeders and like you putting out supplies for the blackbirds. We have a pair who visit the garden and watch out for each other. One will sit and guard whilst the partner has a shower in our pond waterfall and then they change places. This also happens when they go to eat; it is so wonderful to see this love between birds.
