Thank-you Garden fool - Yes and no - its reconstituted stone and the bowl & duck is over 30 years but its a miss match the foot is a plinth after my original broke about 5 years ago. I have 18 Euonynus some are large and showy but others struggle to get larger I love them but it depends on where you plant them some seem to flourish others dont. Make excellent ground cover if planted well and not to near concrete ect at least 3 feet away I would say. They will grow over to the edging in time Also very good against wall or fence if you want them to stand up more put a small stick amongst it. good luck

Thanks Drc
Thats the thing about gardens and plants etc, we can put old broken bits and bobs around and they can still look the part.
I planted some Tyme and Ginger Mint in an old pair of wellies this year. While out walking the shores of Loch Fyne yesterday afternoon I discovered a wee split in my current pair so thats another two planters on their way to the potting shed!
I came across some metal odds and ends a little while back that MAY go around here. I won't say what they are yet as you'll all roll about laughing uncontrollably and pointing!!!
We are on a windy, exposed site here so dont grow the tall Dahlias, just the wee ones so far and they are in pots so I can place them up away from slugs.
Thanks for the info about the Euonymus, no problem about concrete and low and wide would please me very well.

You can get cooper bands for going round pots to keep slugs off. I save my egg shells, slugs hate crossing broken egg shells. Look at some of the ingenious things in gardens on this sight then you will see we wont laugh just enjoy seeing what you dream up.

Have started saving the egg shells recently so may well try a bed next time. Also thinking on all things copper, waiting for a great idea to spark into life~ lol.
You're right of course, there are many examples through this site where folk have put various items to a clever, attractive and useful purpose.

I love the st Dahlias, (my wifes favourite flower).
Just had a look back through you photos and wow, you have done wonders in your garden, is that an old stone bird bath or a repro, looks nice.
A lovely range of plants too. How much growth do you get on the Euonynus Fortunei Emerald Gaiety? Its one of the plants I have marked down as a ground cover for here.
