Hollyhocks

Newly transplanted row of hollyhocks. Hopefully they will grow here, next to the front walk, instead of under the front hedge, where they persist in sprouting. The original plant grew in the front hedge, a gift of some sweet bird, despite my best efforts to uproot it. Still persists yearly even though each spring I swear that I've gotten the entire root...

They are old fashioned red singles.The only ones I have seen are about four blocks away, so it may have been a seed from theirs, who knows! I enjoy them anyway...
