i managed to cut the grass down a bit on the highest setting so it's still rough but you caut walk across it now. i'll gradually take it down lower this week when i have time.
but you can see edges now and the area i'm leaving wild at the back between the grass and the chicken house.

i'm going to add raised borders as you can't dig into the ground about an inch down it's stoney clay soil, you'd need a pick axe and ten strong men so i'm going to build bed on top of the grass and just put membrane down in between.
i'm doing no digging gardening haha

You could always ask for a group from GOY to come and help you! LOL.
Seriously, that soil sounds just a bit 'orrible, so you're doing the right thing, there!
