I looked at this and thought Helichrysum - used to grow these, still have some of the flowerheads as pot pouri from then.

Bamboo - they're also called Helichrysum bracteata over here and they have the scientific name of Xerochrysum bracteatum.
As for the common name, we do tend to call them 'the Golden Everlasting' more than 'Strawflowers'.
This name business can be so confusing!!

They're listed as Helichrysum bracteatum in my encyclopaedia here!
