I'm afraid Carol's just a little to exciteable for me. I suppose I'm just a miserable old devil but I just can't watch when she's on. I like straight forward presenters who show it how it is..
Yes, I should think the palm will grow very big if it likes the situation and it looks like it's got plenty of room around it.

Haha - I'm sure you're not so miserable Paul. Yes - she is quite exiteable - how does one get to be like that? Perhaps too many energy drinks?
I'm gently easing my garden from cottage-y style through to tropical via the palm - I'm finding it quite inspiring!

That's interesting you should say that Elo 15e as my front garden is full of mainly cottagey perrennials which I love but, unfortunatel , being south facing and in a very windy spot, I am finding it inbcreasingly difficult to keep them all going during these dry summers! (Yes, believe it or not , it's been incredibly dry down here in Essex this year!) So I have been thinking about changing one border over to a dry type garden although we have a heavy clay soil so it would be a bit tricky but I've been researching a bit recently to find plants that would tolerate windy, dry conditions in the summer and the clay soil. I would , obviously dig in lots of grit/gravel . The only thing is, i'm not sure I've got the energy now(or the cash!), to change it all around. It would be a lot of work as it's a very big front garden......... We'll see!
