That looks like an ex army ammo box , we had a lot of them once used for tools . My husband [ dec] served 27 years in the aust Army.
I am sure they got away with that by giving you that LOOK.

It is an ammo box indeed. I bought a couple to use for flower boxes. I've had them several years now and they still are in excellent shape.
