Ipomoea purpurea was brought to the American colonies about 1700, and was spread by way of garden peddlers and small-town milliners throughout the countryside
The seed is anthelmintic, diuretic, and laxative. The seeds contain LSA, which has effects similar to LSD.

Anthelmintics or antihelminthics are drugs that expel parasitic worms (helminths) from the body, by either stunning or killing them. They may also be called vermifuges (stunning) or vermicides (killing).
So the answer is YES! :)
