shade to semi shade i believe Spritz, thanks all, it is a really different one i really like it.

I have added it to next years list becasue it likes shade and I am always looking for pretty shade/semi shade lovers.

mmm me too, i just ordered a fern collection from Jparkers, for my extened woodland bed... hope they come soon then i can get this planted up...

Frustrating isnt it? I am waiting for roses to come. I have never grown ferns but do have some under the trees very tall afraid I treat them like weeds - as there would be so many. But real ferns have a lovely grace about them I like them in the evening not sure why?

mmm i like it when they are just coming up with thoughs lovely curly fonds.. the ones i have ordered are maroon and other lovely colours, i just hope there is enough mosture for them under there.... oh and roses are best planted later on anyway... so yours will be fine..

I've just googled your Dicentra to get its full latin name - no luck. Do you happen to know it, Angie? I want to look for it by mail order - if I can't see it in the GCs next time I go.

sorry no i don't Spritz, that is all it had on the lable and then some dutch stuff... but i did see one in the RHS guide very simular to this, i think it could be it....hold on a mo and i'll look it up for ya...
30 Oct, 2009
... i am just looking and it does'nt seem to have a second bit to the botanical name i think this is a spec is'nt it, there are a few varieties that are very simular to this but they are just Dicentra and then the variety... so maybe it does'nt have a spec. if you have the RHS have a look at D Bacchanal, D. Boothman's Varriety and D. Stuart Boothman. i think it is rhizomatous so i may be able to get a root division next year, if you don't manage to find one Spritz.... i am sure you will though knowing you ;-)

I found an advert that says 'bulbs'....and another that says 'bare rooted plants'!! I shall ask Bulbaholic - he will most probably know!
30 Oct, 2009
mmmm not sure to be honest, i can take the pot off and have a look tomorrow if you like,
30 Oct, 2009
I have an answer! B. says it has fleshy roots! So the adverts that say 'bulbous' are WRONG!! I'm going to try to track this down, Angie. :-))
30 Oct, 2009
yep it does'nt say bulbs in the book i have, but Rhizomatous roots which can be fleshy can't they... good luck with finding them..

I have to order it, first! lol.
1 Nov, 2009
... i am sure that is just a formality though is'nt Barb?
1 Nov, 2009
Weeellll - they do charge extra for a small order, but this is the lot who sent me the wrong plants last spring! They OWE me for them, still! Talk about slow! I think I'll add up the cost and put an order in to that value.
1 Nov, 2009
good idea... and it's a very good plant buying excuse too is'nt it lol
1 Nov, 2009
Ok give in, wouldnt want to be set upon by small child...........
2 Nov, 2009
No, nor me! I think buying it by mail order is a much safer option, Dd. ;-)
