A rainforest ground dweller , living on grubs,worms,beetles,shells,small reptiles and fruits.This specimen
flew ifto our window killing itself. we frooze it later sending to a museum where a taxidermist prepared it for a tropical bird display,so this lovely bird gives pleasure to others still .
The name Pitta I use is in this birds memory.I will put on a few more photos of this bird.

As I sit here answering this comment the lone Pitta bird is calling . I HOPE IT FINDS A MATE AS THIS IS THE TIME FOR BREEDING.in a good wet and ample folod they can have up to 5 chicks

This morning at 6am I looked out the window to see the Pitta bird hopping around the lawn , so beautiful.I hope there is another Pitta within hearing range.

Poor little thing :-(
It's such a pretty bird, its colours are wonderful :-)
