Home Pineapple

Despite our best endeavours ever since, the only pineapple we ever grew was this one, in the front window of a semi near Radstock (circa 1980). It tasted awful! I've a pineapple top growing in a pot at the moment in our polytunnel, but despite the warmer climate I've not been able to get beyond this point.
Bob Flowerdew says to get decent fruit you have to plant them in a dustbin sized pot and keep them really warm, so it would be a real trial.

YES, I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN, BUT YOU MUST HAVE BEEN CHUFFED TO GET IT THAT FAR !!

I keep trying, but just when I think the top is going to get through the winter, it gets chilled and expires.
I must bring it into the house in future I think, as I'm putting all my faith in a cold, but frost-free conservatory which only has light from the roof and front.
