Southern Magnolia Flower

This is possibly my husbands favorite tree, his family has had one on the front lawn of the family seat for over 80 years! The flowers have a delightful and powerful scent. But for some people it produces headaches, since the scent can be overpowering in a closed room.
The Choctaw Indians used a decoction of the bark to wash prickly heat. Others used the decoction to bath sores.

And the mountain Is Mt Blanca a member of the Sangre de Chisto's mountains in Colorado. Mt Blanca rises 14000+ feet above sea level and we lived 1 mile from the foot of her slopes at approx 8000 feet (could be a little less, but the land keeps rising from Blanca the town nearest)

I love to see Magnolia trees and I love the smell.
Excuse my ignorance HW, but what is a family seat ?
