Faint Glint of Light

Faint Glint of Light

Caught at last a little Aurora Borealis through the house eaves. This is the common north band, light arc in the north sky, though it was moving and undulating so a little active

Thanks, I know its still faint. I'm so proud to have finally worked out a shot! Took some patience with the camera. Now I just need a real show!

Wow well captured.

Thanks. This is the normal nightly view if they show at all. A green wisp across the north horizon.

Really GT? I would have thought you had wonderfully bright shows up there. This is about what we get once in a while. Only once have I ever seen any other colour but green down here. Once we had a pinkish reddish stripe mixed in with the green.
Well done on getting this shot.

Thanks Gilli. Took me two years to figure this shot out....lol. This is a normal nightly sight when they are out, definately not what we can get to see. A good bright show would be no trouble to shoot at all. Just seeing it to take a shot is more difficult. I've seen the whole sky blood red with a white angel in the center pulsating out across the red in waves. Red and lavender mean it is moving quickest and at the most intense. The whole sky is a rare sight, even here.

Wow....that sounds incredible. One day before I die I want to see a show like that. The one time I saw red down here was the one time that I have seen about half of the sky involved.....mostly just in different brightnesses of green with the one strip of colour. But the lights were moving fairly quickly. It was about 2:00 am and in the middle of the country so not much light pollution. I was laying on the trampoline and watched the show until I finally fell asleep. LOL

Thank you for sharing this wonderful phenomenon.

Oh Gilli, I've had many a night watching northern lights from the trampoline in Idaho myself, those rare occasions that it did show. Something else to see those intense shows.

I'm glad you like BB. I'm determined to bring the better shows to GOY once I catch one. :-)
