This bird has been at my feeder during the winter. Now I know what it is :)

They love the feeders in the winter, but are primarily insect eaters, so once the tree sap starts flowing they aren't as frequent visitors at the feeders. Awfully cute little birds & friendly like the chick- a- dees.

they're such a pretty blue, and comical to watch zipping down trees head first! Do you have peanuts in that feeder? I've seen two pairs of these little beauties over the last month... and more chickadees than in the past three years combined! but very few sparrows! wonder what's up. I know that populations wax and wane but it's still a worry.. only seen one downy so far. it's just been a very atypical year for birding around here.
