This is a fruit of Tenerife

I took a photo of this fruit when we were in Tenerife. The waiter in the hotel said that it grows all over Tenerife and they were served up one day in the restaurant and have a pleasant taste. The waiter did'nt have a clue what they were called. Do we have any fruity experts out there or friends from Tenerife that can help.
