Sixpence not sure what it is a few weeks before xmas was walking in the park back of my daughters house, and this plant was laying on one of the little beds the coucil have made, but all the roots had been chewed by a dog, so i took it home left it in water over night then planted it in this pot, thought i'd put it there while it gets going to shield it, and fingers crossed it will live, felt a bit guilty at first picking it up and bringing it home, but if i'd left it it would have died anyway, at least it stands a chance with me.

I would of done the same and not felt guilty at all yes it looks like a Cordeline to me hope it does well for you.

O : )) I say a Cordeline as a Yuca does' nt have a stem, to stop the edges of leaves going brown people tie them all together upwards, until spring, I have had them and cut right back in the past and they have regrown lovely, but I would make sure what it is first. Perhaps some one else can ID it for you.

Looks healthy enough to me they do go a bit brown with the wind catching them but I can see green they make a lovely structural plant.

They do make a good structure, could look in one of my garden books as there may be some in some of them.

When I had mine, as the lower leaves rot down, it creates a stem like yours, where as Yucca's don't normally. I hope you find one in your book. : O )
