An enclosure for our son's cats in an urban setting - not safe for them to run free, but at least now they can enjoy some fresh air. Patrick spent his Christmas vacation building this.

They are not used to running free, they are close to very busy roads a block away and there are lots of raccoons about. And my son and his wife worry too much!

I can understand that - I have two cats that only go out in the Summer and stay in our garden, not because I keep them there but because they are too soft to go out in the cold, luckily we live in a cul de sac so there is very little traffic - do raccoons attack cats then?

They'll attach YOU if they get get annoyed enough. They are quite vicious, and can get very large. I'm scared to walk down our drive at night, as they roam around our property in large family units. I don't think the urban variety are quite so bad, they are well fed by garbage in the cities! Anyway, these cats of my sons are hugely pampered, and wouldn't know how to defend themselves at this stage in their lives.

Wow - I've learned something new. Your son's cats sound as spoiled as mine!
