A snapping turtle laying eggs in one of the hills...

Yes, it's a turtle laying eggs. We have some wetlands at another property that isn't good for anything but paying taxes on. The dirt is clay but DH dumped hills of black dirt here and there for me to experiment. Last year I grew tomatoes, pumpkin and squash there and sev kinds of flowers.The watermelon, cantaloupe and sunflowers didn't make it and I don't know if it was the clay or if some critters ate them bcs they did sprout. A turtle perhaps? In fact there's a watermelon sprout in this pic behind the turtle. Of course I wouldn't be a true gardner if I didn't try more stuff this year.

Maybe she's aeriating the soil for you, though gardening around baby snappers sound s little dangerous. :-) A great plot, hope there is something that takes to it well. Probably did lose some seedling to the turtles.
