Autumn blaze

Autumn blaze

Second pic of Continus 'Grace', but gives you a much better overview of shrub, though have also seen the smoke bush trained in tree form. Green during the year but on'fire' in its Autumn finery.

It's lovely. Reminds me of my Orange Dream Acer

Can't believe how stunning the Autumn foliage was last year Gardengirl, had to capture it on 'film' as it were to believe it. Our soil here too alkaline to grow Acers, though I did try :o((. Have got a couple in large pots now, and they seem happy that way so far. Thanks for comment Gg :o)

Hi mine are in pots because that's all I've got in my garden. It multi tasks as a car parking space a washing line and all my pots it started with 1 and now there's about 50. When we first got the acer last may we didn't realise they don't like strong sun and even after moving it it didn't really recover. I'm hoping for better luck this yr it's starting to grow new leaves.

Yes, it is tough with Acers isn't it Gg? Bought one for £30 from a mail order company, which wasn't in a great state when it arrived. I got one season out of it before it died, and company couldn't even be bothered to reply to my complaint-needless to say, I don't order from them anymore! The ones I keep in pots are pretty sheltered, so not too bad, but I envy the gardeners that have great success with them, because they are stunning to see. Wow!! 50 pots? That must take a lot of watering,or are you hooked up to an irrigation system Gg? We bubbblewrap our pots of a winter to protect from frost, but even then we still lose the occasional few :-((

A nice colourful picture.

I didn't get around to bubble wrapping because the end of the year was so mild and wet. I had builders and decorators then to and what with Christmas but they all seem to have survived the snow. I water them with a hose or can whatever seems appropriate at the time. I'm growing loads of seedlings ready for the summer pots.

Have got pots out the front of the house as all flagged out there, so we have to water by can too, which is a bit frustrating at times and messy, as its got to be taken through the house, but ho hum, it does give us a bit of colour out there, so can't have it all ways lol! Good luck with the seedlings, bet you'll have a blaze of colour to take you through the summer Gg. Thanks Gb, glad you like it :-)
