Before pond 1

I have a few rocks and also a water feature in there as well. Im going to develop this corner of the garden into a pond with a rockery. Thats the plan anyways!

Thanks very much Hywel, im looking at getting a preformed pond, not too big. Im clearing out the wood chippings and going to remove the rocks today.

I am hopefully going to build a bank / hill / slope around the egdes next to the fence and place the rocks in the slope.

all sounds good to me! years ago, when my brother was small, naturally, as all small boys do, he loved digging in the garden. He also loved insects and small animals and was inspired by our pond we used to have, and both sets of grand parents had at the time. He just dug a large puddle sized hole in the ground and the "liner" was literally a carrier bag! He used stones and pebbles and things around it and in it.... we all thought "Aw, bless" To our surprise, Owens little pond held a heck of a lot of wildlife for years!! Toads, insects, all sorts!! With your carefull planning and hard work, you'll have a great feature in your garden. Looking forward to seeing how it develops :)

Thanks for the comments Emma, im a total novice but am looking forward to getting stuck in really. I was hoping to get all the plants / wood chippings cleared today and the slope / bank bits done but the weather has put pain to that, well for today anyways.

Im going to have a looksy at some preformed ponds so that should keep me going for now !!!!

sounds good andy mine a bit bigger area and i have slope but used a liner, first one not big enough and water just ran under and filled under pond with water so out it came, now just put in bigger liner and hope its ok, this pond buisness isnt easy lol
