A friendly neighborhood copperhead

Hey, I like them! You just have to watch where you put your hands when you're working, especially if you're clearing brambles or weeds.

Do they have a nasty bite??

Well....not as bad as a rattlesnake bite (one of those was spotted in my driveway last year, unfortunately I didn't see it, my neighbor did). You WILL get sick from a copperhead bite, but deaths are exceedingly rare. You might lose a finger. But they are fairly non-aggressive - I'm almost stepped right on them and they never budge.
On the other hand, I was bitten by a brown recluse spider last November and was very, very sick. It took 3 months for the swelling to go down and the bite site is quite visible - there's a discolored, sunken-in area on my thigh. The swollen area was originally about ten inches in diameter. The brown recluse is considered to be one of the most dangerous spiders in the country, and I see them in my kitchen cabinets all the time!

I had no idea that Georgia was such a hostile place!!!!
Seriously though - I lived in Oz for a while & you just learn to adapt don't you.

Lol Meanie! Neither did I, infact it is a place I would love to see and while I do love animals of all sorts, I,m not sure about huge deadly spiders in my cupboards or venemous snakes in my attick - lol. Infact to be truthful, I'm really not keen on spiders at all ! Anyway, another cracking picture of a copperhead Lauram. Looks like a female?
