We put in a large oval area bordered by a few layers of rocks and raised the soil about 6 inches for these little dwarf azaleas. This is the area where the forsythia were drowning last year. ;(
Unfortunately, my compost pile is now pretty much exposed so I am going to try to put a 'hedge' of some sort around it. Possibly using ferns but I do not think there is enough moisture back there because it is slightly up the incline.
