Nature walk in LA

2 Doves escorted me all the way back, staying just ahead of me. I seem to have doves around me a lot. A pair nested in the tree outside my window last yr. The off spring are back this yr. & wanted to nest on my balcony in one of my flower pot but I wasn't having that. Too messy & sorry to say I don't like the sound they make, it's rather irritating after a while. I mean the sound they make when learning to fly, cross between a whistle & a tweet. They chose another tree in the garden instead which was just fine, but now I have 2 more trying to nest on my balcony. I keep shooing them away but they just don't get it. I have to put stick in my pots to keep them out. So I'd have to say they are not smart birds.
However have been wondering if there is any mythical about having them around?
