I love to eat the shoots too. Not from this one though :)

Impossible to describe. There's not much taste in itself, but I enjoy the crunchiness and the taste of late spring/early summer! Whenever I eat bamboo shoots, I mainly appreciate the feeling that "spring has sprung." (Oh my Gxx, how pathetic/sentimental I am!) Nowadays you can eat anything anytime/any season and that's convenient but at the same time, a bit sad. Anyway, bamboo shoots are one of the familiar ingredients in oriental dishes (Thai, Chinese, for example) so if you have the chance, why not try them??? (Maybe you will be disappointed.) xxx
