Hallo - Welcome to GOY....I love bluebells - are these in your garden?

Looking forward to seeing more photos!

Thank you so much! This is part of the garden. I'm battling an area that was gorse, bracken, ivy and bramble for the most part - and overrun by rabbits. This part is too shady for the brambles etc to get a stranglehold & is as it was when we moved in - full of bluebells!

They are lovely - I wish you luck with the brambly bit though. That sounds like a lot of hard work! How big is your garden?

I haven't measured it - it's all on lots of different levels and bits and pieces. The ex-bramble patch I've rabbit fenced is about 15m x 20m. It took me months to clear - doing 6 square feet at a time! That's probably about a quarter of the whole area.

I found this website trying to identify mystery bulbs. The donor said they were agapanthus but they've turned out to be a mixture of Scilla peruviana and Amaryllis belladonna - and I was given 2 bin bags worth! :-)

Wow! They'd be worth a fortune! Have you managed to clear a space to plant them all?

You did well on that bramble patch... they really are AWFUL to remove! I get torn to shreds even trying to cut them back from the field next door - on steps...as they come over, 'cos if I don't do this regularly, of course, they root themselves in MY garden!

Glad you found us, by the way.....:-))

The bin bags weren't full right up - but they each had as much as they could take without tearing. I shared the mystery bulbs with a friend who gives me plants she's splitting and had to pot the rest up til the space was ready.
I'm keeping on top of the brambles and bracken regrowth in what we call "the rabbit garden" (meaning the no-rabbits garden), looking for plants for the shady side of it and working on the next section. We cut a firebreak between our house and the acres of gorse adjoining when we moved in and now I'm trying to prettify it - hence my question about an artificial stream I'd like to engineer. And I must remember not to plant anything woody or combustible! Or delicious to rabbits....
Also, I'm looking for plants for my volcano..... :-)

Errrrrr......Exactly 'where' did you say you lived? Iceland?? LOL.

This is gorgeous are you building a volcano.

Thanks Sixpence! Re the volcano - I prefer to think of it as PLANTING a volcano! I made "walls" out of brushwood fencing - very difficult as the site is very windy - and I'm planting up a 12' x 12' enclosure to represent as bubbling caldera. It's looking better than I expected it to at this stage, but it hasn't caught fire yet! Maybe a photo later :-)
