Lovely!

Thanks Annie! This lovely Cabbage Palm was pretty much overtaken by the holly tree behind it until I gave it a very big prune.... the holly is half the tree it was (literaly) which has really enhanced my lovely Cordyline. Sadly though, this beautiful specimen will have to go as I'm planning a higher fence and a patio area in this corner. The 'trunk' nearest the fence would have to go leaving the poor thing looking rather odd I guess.... it's a real shame.

Now that is what I call a cabbage tree, aka ti or ti kouka. It is neither a cabbage, nor a palm but is a member of the agave family, but used to be placed in the lily family. The perfume is glorious.

Cool! So really a Kiwi eh! Really appreciate that Nzoldcrow, but what perfume? I've heard that before but sadly my hooter must be in the undergrowth!! (Although I've no doubt there are those who would say it's aught to be long enough ;))

Now for a really gorgeous perfume from a New Zealand native, try Alseuosmia. The name means perfumed grove. I will add a photo of one to my page.

Huia.

Very sadly, I'm afraid part of this lovely Cordyline will have to go :(( The fence is being replaced with higher fence to match the joining fence; if you look carefully one 'trunk' needs removing to achieve this. Looked at turning the thing 090 but it's just too big - apparantly roots are really big and disturbing it in this way would prob kill it anyway! Poor thing.
